Round 10 - U15 Girls

What a great start to the start of the second round of the season as the girls impressive display resulted in a 7-1 victory at home against the Peninsular Strikers.

After a weeks rest the girls started well and after some lovely passing and dominant football they soon got their reward when Nat beat her defender and delivered a low solid cross that was met confidently by Jordy and turned in for a great first goal. Well the goals just flowed after this and we were soon 3-0 up after Nat and Carmen scored nice goals. Peninsular then had a rare but quality attack that saw their left winger use her pace to take the ball down the line and deliver a perfect cross that was knocked in by their striker...not much we could do but applaud a lovely goal. The positive from this was that we struck back straight away with another quality build up that saw Nat score with a great left foot shot. Just before half time Nat finished strongly again and we were 5-1 up at the break, a great half of football by our girls had shattered their opposition who seemed glad to hear the half time whistle.

In the second half we mixed the team up and gave the girls the chance to try a few different roles which was interesting and good for the girls confidence. This did restrict us to less goals but we did score 2 goals, one a magnificent run by Kelsey who waited for the goal keeper to move before pulling the trigger and the other to our new super striker Liz who not only hit the post within minutes of being moved to the forward line but also followed up 5 minutes later with our final goal of the match.

The highlights from the game were:-
Alice (first half) and Jordy (second half) for volunteering to go goal keeper for Holly who was away on holidays.. did fine job girls and both will be rewarded with full games this weekend against Brunswick
Nat for another hat trick of goals
Liz for moving from defence to the forward line for the last 10 minutes of the game - hit the post and scored...very adaptable and very impressive!
Brie for a very solid contribution in the central mid field
Katherine for an impressive game in defence after coming off the bench.. she won every tackle...
Kelsey for putting into practice what Lee taught her at training...how to finish those blistering runs
Carmen for a great shot into the corner of the net..her second goal for the season, both against the Peninsular Strikers!
Rachel our reliable Captain who also did a fantastic job in defence as Sweeper when Liz moved to the forward line.
Ellen who supported Rachel showing she can also cover central defence
Well done to all the girls and thanks to U16 Girls Coach (Liverpool Lee) for his support in Scottish Lees absence who was unable to attend due to family issues.
We remain 3rd on the ladder and next Sunday we take on Brunswick (away at 11.15am) in another must win game.
