Rounds 5 & 6 - U13 B Boys

Bigger, stronger, more powerful kicks .............. but unfortunately it wasn’t our boys. Despite this the boys were unlucky to have the quick follow-on goals against them after each of the first goals they conceded each half as the boys defended extremely well during the game. There were a number of good breaks but the boys had yet to settle after the recent re-organisation so were a lacking a little cohesion in pressing home the attacks. This was where Oakleigh’s ability to clear the ball back past our defence had a telling effect on the boys’ spirits. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if one of the attacks by the boys had succeeded.

Good attacking work by Steven S and Todd though it went unrewarded whilst the defensive line – Dimitri, Christian, Stephen B., Derek and Christopher also get special mentions though the whole team defended well during the game.

Comments from the coach for last week’s game against Croydon

We had a fantastic start to the game scoring 3 goals inside the first 20 minutes , passing and movement off the ball was excellent and exactly what i was looking for. In the second half we took the foot of the gas and stopped playing our passing game which can be the case when you are a few goals ahead. All in all i was happy again with the boys we still have a lot to work on but if you can go into a game and only play for 20 minutes and still come away with a 4-1 victory it show's you the quality and hard work of the boys.
