Bulleen 1 - 1 Doncaster Rovers
In stark contrast to the previous game the lads played on the superb artificial surface at the Veneto Club against the Bulleen Superleague side, this game was very disappointing.
For the second match in a row, the boys failed to take command of the game, as they had in the earlier games this season. Against a very average Bulleen side, there were a number of squandered opportunities to go ahead, with a lack of real committment, sloppy passing and lost possession. The pressure that normally puts the opposition on the back foot was missing and as in the last 3 games, the opponents went ahead due to poor making, scoring from a corner shortly before half-time.
The team talk that ensued seemed to be worthless, as the same errors were being made in the second half. Finally we broke down the defence for Nadeem to score making it 1-1, then a blatant trip on Julian in the penalty area went unpunished. The boys need to fire up if they are to achieve their aims for the season. Once again, the football gods smiled on us as the top team lost to the team second bottom - we got out of jail again.
