Round 12 - U10 Blue - Match Report

DATE: 12.07.08 OPPONENTS: MOOROOLBARK LOCATION: ESTHER PARK RESERVE MOOROOLBARK

JUST NOT OUR DAY

With John and Peter now in Greece, and with Christopher and Justin still overseas, and with Ethan
unavailable, it was always going to be a difficult match against Mooroolbark.
The condition of the ground at Esther Park Reserve certainly didn’t make things easier.

The Blues started of well, but with a momentary lapse of concentration in our defense Mooroolbark were able capitalize on it and take an early lead 1-0.
Our boys worked hard and had a lot of possession of the ball but were unable to get the ball in the back of the net.
Mooroolbark had another opportunity in front of goal just before half time and with a well hit strike made it
2-0 down for Doncaster.
The second half started with a lot of promise for the Blues. Marko was kept very busy in goals making some excellent saves and clearing the ball well. Billy, Declan and Stefan did well protecting our goal and pushing the ball to the wings and to our midfield. Corey showed great improvement by clearing the ball well and contributing both in defense and up forward at different stages of the game.
Damian and Alexander applied a lot of pressure in midfield but still helped out in defense and up forward.
Michael made his presence felt with some great clearing
which helped push the ball towards our forward line.
Tim and Jake did a lot of running on the wings and distributed the ball with some great passing to our strikers. Jack and James created a lot of opportunities and had quite a few shots on goal, most of them only just missing the target. The one time we did put the ball over the opposition’s goal line after a great combination between Tim and James it was only to be disallowed by the referee. The Blues threatened to score many times but the ball just did not reach the back of the net.

Stefan and Jack showed the crowd what the Rovers are made of by recovering well and quickly, after both having taken heavy falls then throwing themselves back in the game and giving it their all.
Just before the final whistle blew Mooroolbark took advantage of an opening and scored making the final result Mooroolbark 3 Doncaster Rovers 0.
The Blues played well and had a lot of great moves and passes, and created many chances but unluckily were not able to score. It just wasn’t our day.
