DRSC Code of Behaviour

Players Code of Behaviour
Play by the rules
Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.
Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport.
Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team's performance will benefit, so will you.
Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition.
Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Parents Code of Behaviour
Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition.
Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
Respect officials' decisions and teach children to do likewise.
Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Spectators Code of Behaviour
Remember that young people participate in sport for their enjoyment and benefit, not yours.
Applaud good performance and efforts from all individuals and teams. Congratulate all participants on their performance regardless of the game's outcome.
Respect the decisions of officials and teach young people to do the same.
Never ridicule or scold a young player for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational
Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
Show respect for your team's opponents. Without them there would be no game.
Encourage players to follow the rules and the officials' decisions.
Do not use foul language, sledge or harass players, coaches or officials.
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Officials Code of Behaviour
Modify rules and regulations to match the skill levels and needs of young people.
Compliment and encourage all participants
Be consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.
Condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for all opponents.
Emphasise the spirit of the game rather than the errors.
Encourage and promote rule changes, which will make participation more enjoyable.
Be a good sport yourself. Actions speak louder than words.
Keep up to date with the latest trends in officiating and the principles of growth and development of young people.
Remember, you set an example. Your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive.
Place the safety and welfare of the participants above all else.
Give all young people a 'fair go' regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Media Code of Behaviour
Provide coverage of young people's competitive and non-competitive sport as well as reporting adult sport.
Be aware of the differences between adult sport, professional sport and modified sports programs for young people.
Don't highlight isolated incidents of inappropriate sporting behaviour.
Focus upon a young player's fair play and honest effort.
Do not place unfair expectations on young people. They are not miniature professionals.
Describe and report on the problems of young people participating in organised sport.
Focus on the abilities and not the disabilities of young people.
Avoid reinforcing stereotypical views on the involvement of boys/girls in particular sports.
Give equal time and space to reporting boys and girls sports.

U9 Match Report 21/07/07

DONCASTER ROVERS U9’s

‘ The Blues Twos’

‘Blues play like gladiators to defeat the Lions’

Saturday 21 July (Away)
v. Boroondara Lions

Down to only 9 available players, we arrived to play the Lions on a pitch that would certainly enable utilising the vast areas of space, whilst the goals would have made Mark Schwarzer look small!

Despite going 1 – 0 down within the first few minutes, we soon turned things around against a team we had drawn 0 – 0 with in the first game of the season.

Every player played their part and by half-time we were 3 – 1 up, Jonathon with 2 and Josh 1.

An early 4th goal from Josh in the second half only served to inspire the Lions as we took our foot off the ball. Within 10 minutes they had battled back to 4 – 4.

With 6 minutes to go, the B2s found a second wind, and with the parents cheering them on, netted an amazing 3 goals to seal a tremendous 7 – 4 victory.

This was by far our best performance of the season, especially so with the way we fought back when our backs were against the wall.

Jonathon with 4 was magnificent, whilst Josh worked hard with 3.

Every player should be proud of their effort. Kirk was again confident in goal and had no chance with any of their goals, making a number of important saves. James, Lochie and Jeremy were outstanding in defence with the way they tackled and attacked the ball.

Alex, playing an unfamiliar game just in front of the defence, was calm under pressure and supplied our attack with the chances to score. Peter and Jack both showed how they have improved over the season, giving us the width in midfield, getting stuck into tackles and providing neat interchanges of passes when they could.

Great effort boys, you should be proud of your performance!!!!

Next week we are at home (at last), 10am kick off against Glen Waverley.

Season so far :- P 9 W6 D1 L2
Gls for 39 Gls Ag 21.

C’mon the B2s

Time is Running Out

The United Petroleum sponsorship program that will deliver an ongoing income for Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club month after month, year after year is shortly printing its special members cards. So we really need all aplications returned to the canteen at DONVALE RESERVE or your team manager by Wednesday 29th August

To Recap:
United have designed a program that will give the club 1 cent from every litre of fuel purchased by our club members and supporters from any of United's hundreds of outlets around Australia using their specially designed "Doncaster Rovers and United Community Benefits Card"

To help the club benefit you will need to complete a form that will be given to you by your team manager. Please complete the details and return it to them. A plastic community card will then be issued to you. Make sure you order enough cards to give to your family and friends and even your employees.(especially if they drive trucks).

Brad White from United Petroleum says "Having an outlet across the road from Anderson park and as part of our community spirit we thought it was appropriate in sponsoring the Doncaster Rovers Soccer club. It's about supporting grass roots and community sports. And hopefully our program will make it easier for the club to find funds every year. The amount raised per year could be as high as $15,000 dollars per year if all your members support it"

Adrian Cappola from DRSC "says the club is looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with United and urges all club members and supporters to complete their forms and support United Petroleum. They offer all the fuels from LPG , Diesel to high octane unleaded. We are also proud to be the first club in Australia to have partnered with United in this type of venture."
