DONCASTER ROVERS U9’s
‘ The Blues Twos’
‘Blues finally shake off the late night hangover’
Saturday 14 July (Away)
v. Knox City
The preparation for the game started midweek with a behind closed doors training session at Action Indoor Sports, aimed at stabilising team morale after the disappointment of the cancellation of last week’s game!
However, the pre-game get together the night before seemed to take its toll on the boys in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Too many soft drinks had obviously kept them up late, whilst numerous visits to the dessert counter had made them too bloated to move.
Eventually we got our act together and woke up. Following team instructions to pass the ball rather than dribble on what could be said to be a rather bumpy pitch, we started to create chances and by half-time had scored 3. Alex, Josh and Jonathon, whose goal was a fine individual effort, all got on the score sheet.
A determined second half effort kept the score the same, most notably due to several fine saves from Kirk, and strong tackling from Lochie, James and Jeremy in defence.
Peter continued his improvements on the left of midfield with another solid performance, with Jack showing some nice touches on the right. Ari buzzed around in midfield demonstrating his skill and control on the ball.
A good 3 – 0 result in the end.
Next week we start the second half of the season away to Booroondara, 10am kick off at Macleay Park, Melway 46 C4.
