DONCASTER ROVERS U9’s
‘ The Blues Twos’
Saturday 26 May (away)
v. Glen Waverley
A game of two halves !!
A full squad available, with the “Deadly Dozen” all raring to go. The kick-off was delayed until 11am, I guess the reason was due to crowd congestion, everyone wanting to see just what the B2s were all about. They didn’t disappoint, well in the first half anyway.
On a smallish pitch with full size goals, the B2s eyes shone with the prospect of breaking their scoring duck. It didn’t take long. Shots reined in from all angles and the B2s were off and running.
By half-time the score read 7 – 1. Alex had helped himself to 4, Ari 2 and Jonathon 1. With the defence again solid, ably marshalled by Jeremy, Kirk, Justin and Lochie. Josh was solid in goal on his return. Jack, James, Peter and Chris made important contributions around the pitch, and the B2s marched off at half-time brimming with confidence.
However, whether due to over-confidence or lack of organization, we let Glen Waverley back into the game. A solitary second half goal from Jonathon was all we had to show for a rather disappointing second half display. Yes, we made several positional changes, but must respect our opposition and not get carried away with ourselves.
The game ended in an entertaining 8 – 5 victory. Again, thank you to all the parents, and well done boys on your first victory together.
Next week, Bulleen at home, 10am kick-off.
