Top coach to lead under 11s

Rovers have signed yet another high quality coach with Brendan Bass joining the team in charge of the under 11s.

Mr Bass joins Doncaster following success in the Football Federation Victoria (FFV) Academy system.

Other than academy work, Mr Bass has coached regional and state championship teams, has done work with Eltham North, he has worked with Keilor's Premier League women and will now add Doncaster to his impressive resume.

Mr Bass' playing achievements include representing Victoria at under 15 and under 16 level with over 20 years experience at various clubs. Mr Bass' footballing pedigree is such that his two daughters have both gone on to represent Victoria.

Mr Bass has coached various teams at the FFV Manningham Academy, most recently leading the under 12 boys to victory undefeated at an Academy gala weekend.

Having worked at the Academy since its inception, Mr Bass holds an FFV youth licence and "by the end of the year" will hold a full senior licence.

Mr Bass said he would start working with Rovers' under 11s almost immediately.

"Soon we will be having a look at the boys and doing some trials," Mr Bass said.

"I will be working with them and developing them."

Marco Maisano has worked closely with Mr Bass as FFV Manningham Academy head coach.

Mr Maisano is a former Australian under 23 player who has played for Marconi in the old National Soccer League (NSL), had stints overseas in Holland and Scotland, and last season turned out for Melbourne Knights in the Victorian Premier League (VPL).

Mr Maisano said Mr Bass' work with developing young players was "perfect".

"Brendan's very good with that age group, he's a champion," Mr Maisano said.

"He's very quiet, gets the job done and they listen to him in that age group so he's perfect."
